Especially for South Africans
We have extensive experience teaching Dutch to South Africans whose first language is Afrikaans and/or English.
Our tutors understand the unique challenges South Africans face when learning Dutch. They know which aspects of the language typically require less attention and which language skills need extra focus.
For Afrikaans speakers, reading and listening comprehension in Dutch are often relatively easy to master, while speaking and writing usually present greater challenges. That is why we provide targeted support focused specifically to these needs.
We also share a wide range of practical tips to make the learning process easier, including guidance on the correct pronunciation of Dutch sounds and words, as well as support with accurate sentence structure and natural language use.
Tailored Curriculum
Because we know your starting point, we can skip what you don’t need and concentrate on what matters most.
You already have a significant vocabulary advantage. We build on your Afrikaans foundation from the very first session, making progress feel natural and fast.
Spoken Dutch differs considerably from Afrikaans. We dedicate targeted time to fluency, rhythm, and natural conversational flow so you sound confident, not translated.
Dutch spelling, grammar, and sentence structure diverge from Afrikaans in important ways. We focus on the rules that trip up South Africans most — efficiently.
The Dutch “g”, long vowels, and diphthongs are common stumbling blocks. We provide targeted pronunciation exercises designed specifically for South African speakers.
Understanding Dutch directness, social norms, and professional communication makes integration smoother. We weave culture into every lesson.
You work with one tutor throughout your programme. They get to know your background, track your progress, and tailor every lesson to where you are right now.
